300F - 1960

Next in production line of the Letter Series was the Chrysler 300F. Production of this car began in 1960. The exterior was slight different than the older series. The body was changed and was made by Chrysler's lightweight body, it had new styling with sharper edges.
Not only body was an innovation, but engine too. In 1960 Chrysler presented a new engine in 300F. New high power Wedge engine 6.8 L delivered 375 Hp in stock form. Standard central intake manifold was replaced with new "Cross-ram" intake. It consisted of two 30" pipes. Those pipes criss-crossed that way, that each pipe fed one side of engine. Air cleaners and carburetors were hanged off the sides of the engine.
Special, 400 Hp "Short-ram" engine was produced for competitions. only 15 "short-ram" 300F's were produced, which were equipped with troublesome 4-speed french manual gear box. The number of producted cars increased in 1960, 969 coupes and 248 convertibles were produced.
